Die Einspritzdüsen spritzen den Kraftstoff in einem sehr präzisen Winkel in den Ansaugkrümmer. Im Ansaugrohr werden Luft und Kraftstoff vermischt. Eine Einspritzdüse ist ein System von Kanälen und Düsen, das dazu dient, den Strom einer Hochdruckflüssigkeit so zu lenken, dass eine Flüssigkeit mit niedrigerem Druck in den Strahl gezogen und durch einen Kanal in einen Bereich mit höherem Druck befördert wird. Es handelt sich um eine fluiddynamische Pumpe ohne bewegliche Teile, mit Ausnahme eines Ventils zur Steuerung des einfließenden Stroms.
